Informals '13 Part 7: Harry Potter

1.     X first appears as a fictional book in a famous book series. It is described as a popular collection of fairy tales, although it was unknown to one of the main characters in the series. The book acts as the vehicle for introducing a main concept in the final installment of the series. A strange symbol above a story in this, led to the discovery of information about the existence of certain objects of great importance. ID X.

3.     X and Y’s weren’t supported in their wild ambitions by the elders in family, considering that most of what they’d done was dangerous. In spite of this, X and Y continued with their ambition and succeeded. To raise money, they started by betting money on sports outcomes. However, they actually succeeded with the help of Z who funded them. Identify X, Y and Z.


4.     With the release of the fifth Harry Potter book, the young wizard continued his magic on children and adults alike. It's a sign of his hold on popular culture that ______, a word coined by the author of the series, made it into the Oxford English Dictionary (OED) in 2003. This has been a part of the dictionary for a long time, even before Harry was born. But Harry Potter books gave a new meaning to the term. FITB.



5.     Albus Dumbledore described X’s work as "enchantingly nasty". X’s ability to acquire information was assisted by the status of X being an unregistered Animagus taking the form Y. They also make an appearance in favour of Ireland. They have the ability to create a substance that disappears, much to their amusement, after a few hours. FITB.



7.     X is an English actor. X has acted in popular films like midnight express, V for vendetta, indiana jones and the kingdom of the crystal skull, hellboy series and the HP series. X won the BAFTA for outstanding British contribution to cinema. Whose role does X portray in the HP series?


     8.     ‘Knights of Walpurgis’ - Who were originally called so?

    9.     X is the cousin of Y who first discovered the Dark Lord’s secret. X’s daughter Z, later married a person and their child was named after Z’s father, A. A was on the run just before the Second Wizarding war and was eventually killed. ID X, Y, Z, A.
