Nobel Quiz- A report

The Nobel Week Quiz, Bangalore edition, was organised by the Embassy of Sweden, along with RVQuizCorp on November 3rd 2009 and was held at RV College of Engineering, Bangalore. The quiz was conducted by Mr.Nitish Khadiya, an alumnus of RVCE, and a 'Corper' himself.

The renowned television anchor Mr.Deepak Thimmaiah was the guest of honour for the evening. Prof K.N.Rajarao (Hon.Principal,RVCE), Prof.Narahari (Director of Placements, RVCE) and Prof.Subramaniam (Director,RVCE) were the other dignitaries who graced the occasion. Mr Thimmaiah, a prominent quiz master himself spoke of the “joy of knowledge” and lauded the embassy and the college for the event.

RVQuizCorp worked round the clock to ensure the success of the event. Online registrations for the quiz were open a week prior to the quiz, however teams were allowed to register at the venue as well. The quiz drew participants from a host of colleges in and around Bangalore with 60 teams taking part in the written preliminary round. It consisted of 35 questions that teased & twisted the participants‟ minds.

A live feed of the complete quiz was being posted on the online magazine Citizen Matters. The top 6 colleges that made it to the finals were RVCE, MSRIT, NLSIU, St.Joseph‟s College, BIT and Christ University.

If the prelims were anything to go by, the finals ensured that only the best of the best emerged winners. That honour went to Rahul Jadhav, Srikanth and Sudarshan from MSRIT, Bangalore. St Joseph‟s College finished runners up with Nakul, Chaitanya and Gautam from RVCE completing the top 3 spots.

The winners won themselves a chance to take part in the National Finals held at Delhi on November 8th 2009.

The Nobel Week Quiz was a new high in QuizCorp‟s 12 year long innings with RVCE being the first college in the state to collaborate with an international embassy in an event and QuizCorp being the sole such college-club in the country to singlehandedly organize a full-fledged event for an international embassy.
